In our latest spotlight, we feature Richard Young, Engineering Manager for Rulebook.
Richard has spent over 30 years working in the London insurance market, where he started as a graduate trainee at Lloyd’s of London. He joined us in 2012 to lead the technical architecture and development of Rulebook. That original team was small but did an incredible job to create an award-winning platform for the specialty insurance market that he is very proud of. Richard’s expertise now lies in recommending technology solutions that help serve market pricing and rating requirements.
When asked to identity the most common challenge his clients face when it comes to rating and pricing, he highlights the “time and cost to deliver rating and pricing requirements as solutions to support underwriting and distribution".
Richard explains that Rulebook provides a streamlined solution to this by delivering configurable pricing, without the need for software developers. It also replaces complex, hard to manage Excel spreadsheets, offering an efficient and controlled system for underwriting and distribution processes.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys hill-walking and trail running, and the real sense of achievement he gets after finishing a long route.
